Two great waterfalls, easy hike in and out, beautiful trees, hike to & behind the Ponytail falls.

Near: Bridal Veil, OR  

Scenery:  Beautiful; hike behind the falls

Distance: .8 mile RT

Elevation Gain: 440 ft

Hike Time: 30-45 mins RT

Difficulty: Easy/moderate

Trail Condition: Well maintained trail

Hike Type: DIY Out & Back

Summary: The trail starts out with a few switchbacks to the top of Horsetail Falls, an easy hike.  Trail turns into a more moderately sloped trail to the first falls, Upper Horsetail Falls (Pony Tail Falls; type: Punchbowl), a quarter mile hike. At Pony Tail Falls, the trail goes into a cave and behind the cascading water providing an interesting perspective...and a great way to get cool on a hot day!  You then return to our starting point... If you keep going (see below).

hour have been allotted to the hike itself, and is offered year-round.  Maximum 47 persons. A Trailhead Release Agreement form is required from each member of the group (see below *).  Be prepared for inclement weather (rain, snow, cold, etc.) during winter time tours.

* While we consider this hike to be completely safe; in wilderness areas, possible wilderness dangers are always present.  If you plan on hiking on any trails, a Trailhead Release Agreement form will be required for your tour.  This hike is not recommended for children or pets.   This trail is not near running water, you should plan on carrying your own supply. The cliff sections are moderately exposed, so anyone subject to vertigo should proceed carefully, and turn back if the first set of cliffs are uncomfortable...  If you have any apprehensions about nature hiking and/or nature areas, you should not do this hike.

Following the trail will take you to a fork that if you follow to the left will take you to Triple Falls.  We follow the right fork that will take us back to the Scenic Highway on a loop trail. Parts of the trail are steep and rocky but overall the trail is fairly easy.

Triple Falls

 

This is a quintessential western Gorge hike - 4 sparkling waterfalls (one in which you get to walk behind!), several outstanding Gorge views, and one unique Oneonta Gorge slot canyon all packed in 2.2 miles (one way)! Moderate hike in and out, beautiful trees, hike behind the falls

Near: Bridal Veil, OR  

Scenery:  Beautiful

Distance: 4.5 miles round trip

Elevation Gain: 780 ft

Hike Time: 3-4 hours

Difficulty: Moderate

Trail Condition: Well maintained trail

Hike Type: Out and Back or Loop
