2-3 Day Central Coast Getaway
(Oregon Coast In A Nutshell; Combine parts of tours 2, 3 & 4, then visit wine country on the way back)
Day 1 | Explore the Oregon Coast
This morning, your My Chauffeur guide will pick you up from your Portland hotel to begin your tour. Head to the Oregon Coast and stretch your legs at three of Oregon's most esteemed viewpoints: Seaside for brunch/lunch, Ecola State Park & Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach.
Continuing south through Cannon Beach, you'll follow the coast around the precipitous edge of Neakahnie Mountain, and then descend through Tillamook to the scenic little known beautiful Three Capes Scenic Route (see VIDEO). A must-see is the Cape Meares Lighthouse (below) in the Cape Meares State Scenic Viewpoint & Wildlife Refuge, Big Spruce, Oregon's largest Sitka Spruce & the 'Octopus Tree'. Next is Oceanside & Three Arch Rocks (see VIDEO; Three Arch Rocks was declared a National Wildlife Refuge in the early 1900s by President Theodore Roosevelt. It is the home for many types of bird life and an area frequented by sea lions and hang gliders alike). We'll rest at Pacific City and duck into the Pelican Brewery & Haystack Rock for dinner & a locally-brewed ale & sweeping ocean views.
From Pacific City, we'll move on to our lodging destination.
Day 2 | Whale & Seal Watching & Return to Portland
Relax at the resort with the spa this morning (Salishan Spa & Golf Resort). Then, we'll have a light lunch and set out for Depoe Bay and Newport.
Then Depoe Bay. Depoe Bay is like a postcard, from the fishing boats heading out of the world's smallest harbor to the crashing waves of Whale Cove. This town is known as the whale watching capital of the Oregon coast thanks to a resident pod of gray whales that makes its home offshore from March through December. There's several whale watching options at Depoe Bay.
After whale watching, next is the historic Newport Bayfront (Get a locally crafted brew or grab a bite to eat, shop the boutiques and check out the rowdy and garrulous sea lions on the boardwalk and docks). You'll end at just a short walk away from the Bayfront at the Yaquina Bay lighthouse; it's a work of art where you'll visit the lighthouse museum, explore the tide pools at Quarry Cove or the hiking trails above. .
Day 3 | Willamette Valley Wine Tasting & Return to Portland
On the final day of your journey, we'll return to Portland by way of the Willamette Valley. You'll taste wine at 2-3 wineries in this world-famous wine region. The Willamette Valley is known for its crisp white wines and silky Pinot noirs, both of which you'll try during our boutique winery tasting.
We'll return to Portland by about 5 p.m. and deliver you to your Portland hotel or the airport to end your Oregon Coast Tour.
